Transferring Data Online

The Historion Data Transfer Tool allows Dose Readings to be transferred from participating Dosimetry Providers, over the Internet, into a Historion database for long term record keeping and reporting.

Before Dose Readings can be transferred all Data Transfer Settings must be correctly configured as described above. In large and complex implementations of Historion it is typical for the online transfer of Dosimetry Readings to be restricted by System Administrator Users only. There are five steps to complete in order to transfer Dose Readings into Historion online. They are;

1.Open the Historion Data Transfer feature.

2.Select Dose Reading From Dates

3.Click the Check for New Data Button (and wait for the result to display)

4.If new Dose Reports are present, click the Import Button

5.Confirm new Dose Reports are Imported

1. Open the Historion Data Transfer feature

The Historion Data Transfer feature is accessible (for permitted Historion Users with appropriate Role membership such as System Administrator) from the Transfer button in the Dosimetry tab;

Note the Download button will be inactive if the User does not have the Use Landauer Data Service tick box checked in their User Details as described above in the Data Transfer Setup step 5. Check Historion Use Landauer Data Service

2. Select Transfer Reading From Dates

There are two dates present in the Landauer Data Transfer tool. They are not used as a date range;

                                                                Transfer Reading From Dates

The Wearing Period from (inclusive) refers to the date of monitoring commencement as indicated by the Dose Readings available for download.

The Earliest Landauer import date to search refers to the date when the results were loaded (or reloaded for a replaced Dose Report) by the laboratory. This date is optional only, it is not mandatory.

The dates are different to allow the user to filter for Dose Report that have been superseded with a revised version from the laboratory. This is rare. This is indicated by a later Landauer Import date for the Dose Report.

In normal cycles of monitoring if no reports have been replaced keep these two dates the same or else keep the second Landauer import date empty.

Tip: Break the Data Load up when first transferring historical data

If thousands of Dose Readings are expected to be imported on first transfer due to a historical backlog, start at January of the current year then process the previous calendar year and so on. Transferring ten years of Dose Readings can take a long time especially if the Dose Readings are for a thousand people. That is a lot of data.

For large Accounts this can also be done one Account at a time by adjusting the Accounts that Historion will check, in the Account No(s) field of the Landauer Data Transfer Settings tab, to only include one Account number per data transfer session.

3. Click the Download Button (and wait for progress results to display)

                                                                                                                        Download button

                                                                 Progress Notification Area

After clicking the Download button Historion displays its progress in performing an initial check for then downloads Dose Reports not yet downloaded. The current step in the process and any problems detected are shown in the Progress Notification Area. The following three stages in the process run;

                                                       Stage 1 Checking for new Dose Reports not yet imported

                                                Stage 2 Downloading new Dose Reports for subsequent importing

                                                 Stage 3 Completion and Listing of new Dose Reports Found if any

4. If new Dose Reports are Present Click the Import Button

Historion reactivates the Check for New Data button, display the number of new reports found and list the headers (basic Dose Report summary data) of Dose Reports downloaded;

                                                                                        Dose reports not yet imported

If there are new Dose Reports downloaded for importing, click the Import button at the lower right-hand corner of the Data Transfer page. Historion will start importing Dose Reports not yet imported as outlined below.

Dose Reports Importing after Download

The Import button must be clicked to start the import process, importing does not start automatically. After Dose Reports are downloaded, they are in a waiting state and have been triaged for import. This is like a group of CSV files sitting in a folder awaiting data importing.

As Dose Reports are imported the import status of each Dose Report is indicated in the Progress column as shown below;

                                                                                            Import Process Status

The Progress Notification Area displays a progress meter and current Dose Report Import step as well as progress and final import Status for each Dose Report.

The Dose Report Import Steps shown are the same as those undertaken by the Individual Dose Report Import feature and the Bulk Dose Report Import Feature. Historion’s handling of the import is like the Bulk Dose Report Import feature.

5. Confirm new Dose Reports are Imported

After completing the import process Historion and if the default Dose Report Visibility setting has been selected Historion clears the downloaded Dose Reports list of all successfully imported Dose Reports;

   Dose Report Visibility setting

The cache loading progress indicator will appear when the Data Transfer completed, as the cache is reloaded to ensure it includes the latest Dose Readings downloaded and imported into Historion.

The list of Dose Reports (accessed from the Imported button in the Dosimetry tab) will now show the new Dose Reports successfully transferred.

The latest imported Dose Reports appear at the top of the list (unless the Dose Reports List Default Filters are in use, in which case filter changes may be needed to see the new Dose Reports imported).
